Franzobel – Der Junge Hitler

Not an easy project. I was asked by the Austrian publisher Kyrene Verlag to illustrate Franzobel’s satyirical novel Der junge Hitler. The story talks about a young Adolf Hitler, who is in a mental hospital where Doctors try to remove hate from his mind.

Shruthi-1 Yellow Magic Edition

After the 4-Pole Mission version of the Mutable Instruments Shruthi-1 I worked also on a new Japan-themed special edition of the Shruthi-1 synth, this time in collaboration with Elisabeth Busani. For the Yellow Magic Eidtion we created a sticker and several graphic elements that were used on the PCBs and the case of the units.

Hexinverter.net is a Canadian producer of synthesizer modules. I’ve worked out a new logogram for them. The logo is composed by two greek phi characters that somehow form an H.

Mutable Instruments redesign

Complete redesign for the the French Synthesizer company Mutable Instruments.

For this project I’ve redesigned their logo, corporate design and website, designed several graphic elements for the website and other communication materials (in collaboration with Elisabeth Busani). Mutable Instruments was already working with Indian elements for their visual identity (also their Products have all Indian names), we developed this idea further making it become an integral part of all their visual materials.

Thanks to Patricia Plangger for the help on the typography/logo part.

Giètz is a comics about how jazz music came to Italy in the early 50s. I made this comics 4 years ago, but it was recently reprinted. So I decided to create a series of variations on the original cover, imagining it being a different story, of a different genre.

The Sentinel (XL di Repubblica)

The Sentinel is probably the best known short story by Arthur C. Clarke. Famous for being the one that 2001: A Space Odissey was somehow based on. When they asked me: “would you do some science fiction illustration?”, I didn’t imagine I was about to illustrate this! It was quite a bit of a challenge. While I love sci-fi and loved to illustrate this story, it gave me little to work with, so I had to get inside the characters and find the things the story doesn’t tell you.

Kyrene Herbstprogramm 2012

Kyrene prints a new programme twice a year and usually asks artists and illustrators to contribute their personal interpretation of their “totem animal”, a cow.
Along with the illustration for the programme I also created a promotional postcard for them.
My interpretation of the cow was clearly inspired by old movies where giant monsters destroy cities with their super-powers, like Godzilla.
